We know how much easier it is to relax when you know your dog is safe and happy. At Puddle Duck Cottage, you’ll have your own private, securely fenced garden with both patio and lawn, where your dog can enjoy being outside while remaining safely enclosed and within sight. Step beyond the garden and there are miles of wonderful traffic-free walks directly from the door, while plenty of welcoming dog-friendly places to eat and drink are within easy walking distance. Some even keep a supply of dog biscuits behind the bar!

We’re incredibly proud that Puddle Duck Cottages has been named Gold Winner for Most Dog Friendly Cottages and Self-Catering at the DogFriendly Awards for three consecutive years. What makes this recognition particularly special to us is that the winners are decided by public vote. Knowing that guests and dog owners have taken the time to vote for us makes these awards mean all the more. Alongside our other dog-friendly awards and recognition, we have also achieved the National Pet College Dogs in Hospitality certificate, recognising hosts who understand how to provide a genuinely welcoming environment for guests travelling with dogs.

We welcome up to two dogs at the cottage completely FREE OF CHARGE. We don't believe your four-legged family members should come with an additional holiday price tag.

Muddy Paws? We've Thought Of That Too

With riverside walks, woodland adventures and the beautiful Shropshire countryside on your doorstep, occasionally returning with muddy paws is all part of the fun. Whether your dog has been splashing in the river, exploring a muddy footpath or, like our Bertie, simply can't resist a good old-fashioned roll in something mucky, we've got you covered. You'll find our "Woofers Wash Stations" at the cottages, with hot and cold outdoor showers as well as a portable Mud Daddy dog wash, making it easy to rinse off muddy paws before heading back inside for that well-earned snooze.

Explore the Severn Gorge

The Severn Gorge Countryside Trust looks after more than half of the Ironbridge Gorge World Heritage Site, caring for 289 hectares across 52 sites and maintaining more than 25 kilometres of public footpaths. For our guests, this means a wonderful landscape just waiting to be explored. Discover peaceful woodlands, beautiful wildflower meadows, historic remains and spectacular viewpoints, linked by an extensive network of paths through the Gorge.

Best of all, you can enjoy much of this wonderful countryside on foot directly from Puddle Duck Cottages, following paths through Jackfield, Coalport and the wider Ironbridge Gorge. It’s perfect for a leisurely stroll, a longer day’s walk or simply heading out with the dog and seeing where the path takes you.

The Trust works to protect this unique landscape, its wildlife habitats and historic features while keeping it accessible for everyone to enjoy.
